The Fire-X is a medium-range vertical unmanned aircraft system developed by Northrop Grumman, combining the proven autonomous mission architecture of the MQ-8B Fire Scout with the payload capacity, range, and cargo capability of the Bell 407 helicopter.
Designed as a low-cost, rapidly fielded platform, Fire-X supports a wide range of tactical missions including reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RSTA). Its vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capability enables flexible operations without the need for runways, while its significantly increased endurance and cargo capacity provide enhanced mission versatility for military and expeditionary operations.
The platform is capable of carrying more than 2,600 lb (1,179 kg) of internal or external cargo and can achieve over 15 hours of endurance when appropriately configured. Fire-X also benefits from Bell Helicopter’s established worldwide logistics, training, and support network.
