IAI’s KATANA provides an unmanned solution for the entire range of homeland security and naval applications. With a modular and flexible architecture, it allows adaptation to customer and mission requirements, enabling both autonomous and manned operations on the same platform.
Versatile Vessel Deployment
The KATANA Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) system could be installed on different vessels that serve different missions. All USVs are based on the same baseline architecture, providing autonomous navigation, mission planning, and remote control.

Mission Payload Support
On top of this baseline architecture, the USV system supports remote operation of payloads according to the specific mission profile. The system also includes Command & Control stations for remote operation.
Dual-Mode Capability
The KATANA system supports dual-mode operations, allowing the same vessel to be operated as a USV or as a manned platform with a simple and quick switch-over.
Operational Safety & Efficiency
Using the KATANA USV, some missions could be executed remotely and without risk to own forces. Moreover, the dual-mode capability allows for efficient use of the same platform either as USV or as a manned vessel depending on mission requirements.
